Bulova 2181 Accutron N4 Tuning Fork Watch Running Signed Lizard Strap And Buckle

  
Offered for your consideration from my personal collection is this ALL ORIGINAL AND RUNNING BULOVA 2181 ACCUTRON TUNING FORK MEN'S WRISTWATCH WITH DATE INDICATOR AND A DATE CODE N4 DATING IT TO 1974. This remarkable find is signed SIX times: dial, crown, case back, movement, lizzard strap and even the buckle. The dial is flawless, the crystal is flawless and only the most minute of contact marks on the stainless steel case tells you this watch isn't quite brand new. An estate sock-drawer find, this watch was immediately placed in the hands of my watchmaker. He remarked that though the original battery was still inside, the movement was "squeaky clean" (as he put it).

With a proper new battery instslled, it has run continuously in my watch box for last two months. I checked on it occasionally and time-keeping is somewhat erratic, +/- 5 minutes. It has never stopped running.

The date function works properly. My watchmaker admits little knowledge of this type of movement, but he thinks whatever adjustments it needs are minor in nature but worth doing because the watch is otherwise so completely original and pristine.

The signed crown is a "tight" pull, but the action on the time setting is liquid smooth. It probably goes without saying, but finding this watch with its original signed genuine lizzard belt and buckle not only intact but presentable and wearable is quite rare. It may be a long time before you see this watch looking this good again. The inscription on the case back indicates this watch was presented as a 35 year service recognition from Caterpillar Tractor Co. QUITE a nice gift then, even more so now.
