Reluctantly for sale is my Nigel Dean Tour Master frame and forks. I will also include the Shimano Ultegra headset, and a Campagnolo Centaur band-on front derailleur, all in excellent working order. It measures 56.5cm from centre of bottom bracket to top of seat tube, 57cm from centre of head tube to centre of seat tube. The frame was re-sprayed and the frame ends chromed when repairs and modifications were carried out ten or more years ago. A gentle collision with the rear end of an illegally parked Mercedes in Knightsbridge left me with creased top and down tubes, and a decision to make. The recollection of many happy miles spent together caused my heart to hold sway over my head, and meant I embarked on an un-economic rescue programme.

The gentlemen at Argos Racing Cycles, Bristol, replaced the two creased tubes and carried out various modifications at my request. The drop outs and frame ends were chrome plated. The gear and rear brake cables were re-routed along the top of the top tube.

Mudguard bosses were fitted to the underside of the fork crown, seat stay and rear of the chain stay bridges. A pump peg was fitted to the non-drive side seat stay, and the frame and forks were stove enamelled in Eau de Nil....

The paint is still sound but bears the usual cosmetic signs of age, most noticeable is the result of a loose rear derailleur which caused the wheel to slip and the tyre to rub a patch of paint off. I painted a small dab of metal primer on to prevent rust from taking hold, and this can be seen in one of the images. Rather than resort to a mountain bike front derailleur to work with the new cable routing, I fitted a professionally produced adaptor to a Campag Centaur road double shifter, which means that it can now be used with a cable running from above rather than below the bottom bracket. Incidentally, the BB shell has been stamped BS9 4NE 178 which was the postcode and street number of Harveys Cycles when I worked there in the early'90s. The frame otherwise is all'standard' - 27.2mm seat post fitting etc.

BB shell is the usual 68mm wide - and it has fittings for front and rear racks as one would expect. My head has now regained control over my heart, and having looked at how much I use it and how little space I have left in my shed, I have come to the conclusion that it needs to go to someone whom I hope will enjoy using it as much as I did.

I would prefer not to have to post this, but I will look into doing so if you are prepared to meet the costs. Considerably more than their advertised rate anyway! The item "Nigel Dean Tour Master frame & forks, Reynolds 531ST, 22 c-t" is in sale since Saturday, April 28, 2018.
